About the role
We are modernising the way business-to-business contracts are created, negotiated and managed. New contract lifecycle management and quote configuration software is being introduced and integrated into our existing customer relationship management system. The programme runs over roughly two years and covers several commercial areas of the company.
As Solution Architect, you own the technical design. You decide how the systems fit together, how data flows between them, and how the business processes are translated into working software.
What you will do
- Design the overall solution: how the contract management platform, the quote configuration tool and the customer relationship management system connect and share data.
- Assess the standard connectors between these systems, understand what they can and cannot do, and design around the gaps.
- Translate business requirements from the commercial departments into a technical concept they can recognise and approve.
- Define the data model, integration points, interfaces and the sequence in which components must be built.
- Review vendor proposals and technical documentation critically, and challenge assumptions where the design does not hold up.
- Identify technical dependencies early and explain their impact on the timeline in language non-technical stakeholders understand.
- Set standards for configuration, templates, approval logic and pricing structures, and make sure the implementation follows them.
- Guide developers and consultants through the design during build, testing and go-live.
- Document the architecture so it stays understandable after you hand it over.
What you bring
- Several years of experience as a solution architect, technical consultant or lead analyst on enterprise system implementations.
- Practical experience with contract lifecycle management or quote configuration software, or a comparable enterprise platform.
- Solid understanding of customer relationship management systems and how integrations between business platforms actually behave in production.
- The ability to read a vendor’s product roadmap and judge whether it supports your design or undermines it.
- Experience designing across several business areas at once, where requirements conflict and someone has to decide.
- Clear communication in English, both with developers and with business stakeholders who do not think in systems.
- German is a plus but not required.
What success looks like after six months
- A documented target architecture that the business, the vendor and the internal technology team all agree on.
- Integration dependencies identified, understood and reflected in the delivery plan.
- Development teams working from your design without needing to reinterpret it.
