ROLE OVERVIEW
We are looking for a motivated Junior HV Jointer to join our growing field Installation team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone at the start of their career in high voltage cable jointing to build hands-on experience on live projects, working alongside experienced jointers and engineers on HV cable installation, termination, and jointing works across the electricity network sector. Full training and mentoring will be provided as part of a structured development pathway toward full HV jointing qualification.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist experienced jointers with the installation, jointing, and termination of high voltage (HV) cables, in line with project specifications and applicable IEC standards.
- Support the preparation, testing, and commissioning of HV cable joints and terminations.
- Carry out cable preparation work, including stripping, cleaning, and screening, under supervision.
- Assist with fault location, cable repair, and cable pulling activities as required.
- Follow all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) procedures and safe systems of work at all times.
- Maintain accurate records of work carried out, materials used, and test results.
- Support the safe use, maintenance, and storage of tools, plant, and jointing equipment.
- Work collaboratively with site teams, engineers, and client representatives to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and to quality standards.
- Participate in ongoing training, toolbox talks, and development activities toward full HV Jointer certification.
REQUIREMENTS
- Basic knowledge of electrical systems and HV cable networks; relevant vocational training, apprenticeship, or technical education is preferred.
- Willingness to undertake further training and certification in HV cable jointing.
- Understanding of – or willingness to learn – IEC standards and safe working practices for HV networks.
- A valid driving licence.
- Strong attention to detail and a genuine commitment to health and safety.
- Good manual dexterity and the ability to work carefully with precision tools and equipment.
- Willingness to travel to project sites across the region, including overnight stays.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team environment.
- Fluency in English; additional European languages are an advantage.
