Job description:
The operational director of the amusement park and zoo is responsible for the day-to-day management of the work of the amusement park and zoo, the coordination of employees, the care of animal welfare, the maintenance of facilities and the realization of the institution's business goals
-Key responsibilities:
- Organizes and supervises the day-to-day operational activities of the amusement park and zoo department
- Coordinates the work of services for animal care, veterinary work, maintenance, security and customer services
- Ensures the application of standards for the welfare, accommodation and protection of animals
- Plans and controls the budget of operational activities
- Monitors costs and proposes measures to improve business efficiency
- Participates in the creation of strategies for the development and improvement of the park and zoo
- Supervises the maintenance of facilities, equipment and infrastructure
- Organizes the implementation of occupational safety, environmental protection and visitor safety measures.
- Manages risks within the operation of the park, ensuring the health and safety of staff and visitors.
- Manages human resources within operational sectors.
- Cooperates with state authorities, inspections, other institutions and organizations in order to improve operations.
- Coordinates the organization of educational programs, events and activities for visitors
- Ensures the implementation of the development strategy, set objectives and business policies
- Ensures the implementation of strategic and annual plans
- Ensures that the highest standards of animal welfare and animal veterinary care are maintained, including oversight of reporting procedures to maximize staff engagement in a continuous effort to improve animal conditions.
- Ensures the implementation of zoo animal incident protocols
- Collaborates with the Global Safety and Risk Manager and other key staff, develops and implements other zoo emergency procedures
- Prepares reports to the Director General or other members of management as required
- Promotes collaboration between all park sectors and departments
- Conducts analyzes of zoo and park operations, taking into account the wider zoo environment, nature conservation, sustainability and visitor attraction
- Continually undertakes actions and measures to improve zoo and park operations, in line with best practice for a modern and sustainable zoo
Skills:
- Extensive knowledge and experience in modern amusement park / zoo management, collection planning and enclosure design
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a highly effective team to achieve organizational goals
- Comprehensive knowledge of animal population management
- Detailed and thorough knowledge of ethics in zoos
- Practical and theoretical experience in species conservation
- Strong mentoring and teaching skills for the development of teams and individuals
- Leadership qualities that promote cooperation within and between departments
- Ability to manage high-pressure situations, handling a complex workload
- High level of personal resilience and experience in conflict management
