Job Title: Transportation and Operations Coordinator

We are currently recruiting for one of our clients for a Transportation and Operations Coordinator position. This role is responsible for managing the daily operations of the client’s inbound and outbound transportation network, fleet programs, and distribution support. This role ensures timely, cost-effective, and compliant movement of goods while maintaining strong vendor/carrier relationships, supporting system improvements, and driving continuous efficiency. The coordinator also manages fleet usage programs, audits, and TMS planning while collaborating with internal stakeholders to ensure seamless operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Freight & Logistics Operations
- Manage daily inbound and outbound freight operations for stores and distribution centers.
- Coordinate with carriers, brokers, and 3PLs to ensure timely, cost-effective deliveries.
- Monitor transportation performance using KPIs (on-time delivery, order accuracy, cost per shipment).
- Troubleshoot service issues and implement corrective actions to improve reliability.
- Maintain compliance with shipping regulations and industry standards.
Fleet Coordination
- Oversee company fleet operations, including delivery vans and cars.
- Track usage, complete reporting, and conduct audits for fleet-related programs.
- Manage programs such as tolls, fines, maintenance, and fuel tracking.
- Ensure vehicles are compliant with safety and maintenance requirements.
Vendor & Carrier Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with freight carriers, suppliers, and 3PL providers.
- Enforce vendor compliance with packaging, labeling, routing, and documentation standards.
- Conduct regular vendor audits to drive accountability and improvements.
Financial Controls & Invoice Oversight
- Review carrier invoices daily to ensure billing and GL coding accuracy.
- Partner with Finance and AP to validate charges, resolve discrepancies, and maintain accountability.
- Identify and recommend cost savings through data analysis and reporting.
Continuous Improvement & System Support
- Partner with retail and e-commerce teams to optimize last-mile delivery solutions.
- Analyze parcel shipping data to identify trends, performance opportunities, and savings.
- Support TMS planning, enhancements, and integrations for future-state improvements.
- Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and service quality.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
- 3–5 years of experience in transportation, supply chain, or retail logistics network.
- Background in DC and freight operations required.
- Experience with invoice auditing and financial controls highly preferred.
- Fleet management experience is strongly desired.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent analytical and administrative capabilities.
- Proficiency in logistics software, ERP systems, TMS, and Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent English communication skills (C1 level or higher).
