About the Role
As a Mid-Level Geospatial Annotator at Borek Solutions Group, you will support the development of AI-powered geospatial solutions by analyzing and annotating satellite, aerial, drone, and other geospatial imagery to create high-quality training data for machine learning and computer vision models. You will help improve mapping accuracy, asset detection, land-use classification, and other geospatial AI applications.
Working closely with GIS specialists, Quality Analysts, and AI/ML teams, you will ensure accurate labeling, segmentation, and classification of geospatial datasets across diverse geographic regions and environments, while mentoring junior annotators and supporting quality reviews.
Responsibilities
- Annotate and classify features from satellite, aerial, and drone imagery
- Perform object detection, polygon annotation, semantic segmentation, and image classification tasks
- Identify and label roads, buildings, utilities, vegetation, water bodies, infrastructure, and other geographic features
- Follow project-specific annotation guidelines and quality standards
- Review and interpret geospatial imagery from multiple sources and resolutions
- Assist in preparing datasets for mapping, detection, segmentation, and classification workflows
- Handle large volumes of geospatial data while maintaining accuracy and productivity targets
- Conduct self-review of completed annotations and participate in quality audits and corrections
- Identify inconsistencies, anomalies, and labeling errors, ensuring compliance with accuracy and turnaround requirements
- Collaborate with team leads and quality reviewers to improve annotation processes and guidelines
- Support model improvement initiatives through accurate data labeling and validation
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline
- 2–5 years of experience in geospatial annotation, GIS operations, remote sensing, mapping, or image labeling
- Experience working with complex annotation projects involving aerial or satellite imagery
- Ability to mentor junior annotators and support quality reviews
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good command of English
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with GIS platforms such as ArcGIS or QGIS
- Understanding of remote sensing concepts and spatial data
- Knowledge of machine learning data preparation workflows
- Experience with annotation tools such as Labelbox, CVAT, Scale AI, Supervisely, V7, or similar platforms
- Ability to interpret imagery from satellite, aerial, drone, and other sensor sources
- Understanding of object detection, classification, and segmentation techniques
