TRENDING WRITER (JOE)
LOCATION: On-site - Prishtinë
JOB TYPE: FULL TIME - 12 month contract

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE
- 3-4 years experience working as a writer within media
- Demonstrable experience in writing about sport and breaking news
- SEO Experience
- Experience with Canva or other design platforms
- Desirable: Experience in a social-first publisher
- Desirable: Experience writing affiliate content
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- You’ll be responsible for the creation of trending and breaking news stories to be published to the JOE websites across both Ireland and UK.
- The candidate will work with teams across Manchester, London and Dublin to create daily trending and affiliate content for publication to socials and for SEO..
- The candidate will also work closely with the Editorial Director and the Deputy Director of Editorial to create original, high impact evergreen content.
- The candidate will be able to successfully use user data and audience metrics to determine best practice in developing JOE stories and editorial strategy..
- The successful candidate will be able to deliver articles in the JOE tone of voice, complete articles quickly in breaking news situations, fact check articles, and have good knowledge of media law - this can range from news, culture, entertainment and sport.
- Ensure all-around consistency (style, fonts, images and tone), alongside any other duties as required by Senior Management.
- Must be able to work across trending news shifts including weekend and evening shifts.
SKILLS
A Trending Writer should have the following skills:
- Familiarity with web publications
- Great written communication skills
- Understanding of digital publishing industry
- Ability to recognize viral content effectively
- Editorial research and fact checking skills
- Media law knowledge
- Ability to work under pressure and to work as a team
- Display a high level of curiosity and willingness to learn
- Hands-on experience with Content Management Systems (e.g. WordPress)
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Must have multiple areas of interest across sport, politics, entertainment; well-versed in internet culture.
- Competent in using data and analytics to influence decision making
