Financial Controller (Relocation to Malta)

About the Role:
We’re seeking a skilled Financial Controller to join the db Group Finance Department in Malta. This is an on-site role, ideal for a finance professional ready to take the next step in their career and relocate to one of the Mediterranean’s most dynamic business environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the annual budgeting process and periodic forecasting cycles.
- Prepare accurate monthly management accounts and performance reports.
- Develop and maintain cash flow statements and financial analyses.
- Oversee the submission of timely and compliant VAT returns.
- Monitor debtors and credit control, reporting regularly to the Group CFO.
- Strengthen and maintain internal control systems.
- Liaise with auditors during statutory audits and ensure full compliance.
- Supervise the accounts team and support day-to-day financial operations.
- Ensure adherence to group accounting policies and local regulations.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency.
- Mentor and develop team members in line with db Group values.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Financial Controller or in a senior finance position.
- ACCA qualification or equivalent (mandatory).
- Experience in hospitality, construction, or multi-entity operations is an asset.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office tools.
- Familiarity with accounting or ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar).
- Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills and fluency in English.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and collaborative work environment.
