Job Description
Civil Engineer – Contract Management & Tenders is responsible for coordinating, preparing, negotiating, and executing contracts within construction projects. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, project management skills, and the ability to liaise effectively with clients, suppliers, and partners. The engineer will be a key point of contact to ensure all contracts are executed according to planned timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contract Preparation:
- Develop technical specifications and analyses required for contract preparation.
- Prepare and review contract documentation, including designs, drawings, specifications, and budgets.
- Collaborate with the legal team to draft and verify contract terms in compliance with legislation and industry standards.
- Negotiation and Communication:
- Actively participate in negotiations with investors, clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with all relevant parties regarding contract terms, deadlines, costs, and other critical issues.
- Ensure all contracts comply with technical requirements and legal regulations.
- Contract Execution:
- Monitor the implementation of contractual obligations during construction works.
- Coordinate with project execution teams (construction workers, engineers, subcontractors) to ensure timely and high-quality completion of works.
- Manage resources (materials, labor, equipment) according to contract requirements and project plans.
- Resolve issues or disputes promptly during contract execution.
- Quality and Safety Control:
- Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with agreed technical specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations.
- Supervise construction activities to prevent errors and ensure high-quality project delivery.
- Reporting and Administration:
- Provide regular progress updates and contract status reports to management and clients.
- Maintain and archive all contracts, amendments, technical and financial reports.
- Prepare final reports and documentation for inspections and verification of project completion.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the construction industry.
- Knowledge of construction materials, techniques, and technologies.
- Experience with FIDIC contracts.
- Ability to understand and apply technical and legal contract specifications.
- Excellent knowledge of construction laws and regulations.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency with construction-related software (e.g., AutoCAD, MS Project, Excel).
