Seeking Exceptional Lead Engineer, Starting Now

Oxford Property Group is a NYC-based, national, entrepreneurial real estate brokerage. We’ve nearly doubled in size over the past year, and now house 750 agents and service tens of thousands of real estate customers. Our organizational structure is very flat, and our office atmosphere is casual and familial.

We have been building an in-house technology platform for the past 5 years. We’re happy with our product, but we are re-investing in technology as a core driver of value in our business, with an eye toward selling our in-house product nationally and internationally. We know equipping real estate agents and consumers with intelligent software tools will be the key differentiator in our industry over the next 10 years. To that end:

We are looking for an exceptional engineer to lead a small team and to play a crucial and strategic role in architecting a state-of-the-art real estate website, native mobile application, and web service. We plan to make viewing, renting, purchasing, and making intelligent investment decisions about residential and commercial properties a joyful and completely seamless digital experience.

Attributes and Experience We Are Looking For in a Candidate

Exceptional coding ability
Strong proclivity for simple and effective software solutions
Very strong communication skills
Ability to motivate, enfranchise, and teach junior engineers
Practical business and design intelligence
Strong dev ops experience; confident competence with automated testing and CD
Love of building beautiful, functional, and highly extensible product in a collaborative environment

Information About Oxford’s Hiring Process

1. Optional 15-minute meet and greet before or after application submission here: https://calendly.com/davidm-14/15-minute-david
2-hour take home technical exercise. This will be reviewed by humans and returned to you with insightful comments about your performance. This is to get a sense of the depth of your coding ability and solution organization.
Half-hour live pair-coding exercise. This is to get a sense of how you communicate in real time about solving technical problems.
1-hour architectural and business process interview with CEO. This is to get a sense of how you reason and discuss solutions with non-technical team members.

We will also plan to talk with three of your references, to learn more about your employment history.
