HOURS/NATURE: Full-time 

Action for Mothers and Children, AMC, is a non-for-profit foundation with the foremost goal to save the lives of children and improve the health care for mothers in the Republic of Kosovo through developing better systems for the care of pregnant women, and their children.

It has been established since 2009 as Foundation for Healthy Mothers and Babies and grown into Action for Mothers and Children since 2013. The impetus for creating this new, nonprofit foundation emanates from USAID funded primary and reproductive health programs that have been implemented by Doctors of the World, AIHA, AmeriCares, the Dartmouth Medical School and their many colleagues in Kosovo. AMC represents a foundation developing health programs and providing resources for the Gynecology/Obstetrics Clinics (that care for mothers), Neonatology Intensive Care Units (that care for critical premature babies) and Pediatric Clinics (that care for children suffering from Leukemia, Heart diseases, Asthma and other illnesses). 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

We are currently recruiting a Fundraising & Events Manager to join our team. We at Action for Mothers and Children are determined to save lives and improve the quality of life of mothers and children in Kosovo. We support and fund projects and activities in the following areas: health education programming, research programs, advocacy programs and supply programs. As Fundraising Manager, you’ll be a team player with excellent people skills and the confidence to represent the charity in your day to day work locally, regionally and internationally. Most importantly, you’ll have the desire to succeed at improving mothers’ and children’s health in Kosovo.

WORK DUTIES MAY INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Develop & lead fundraising programs locally, regionally and internationally
  • Develop & lead fundraising strategies and plans to meet AMC’s annual targets and funding needs
  • Donor mapping, development and maintenance of donor database
  • Provide regular and transparent reports to donors
  • Plan and direct special events for fundraising
  • Solicit cash or in-kind donations or sponsorships from individual, business, or government donors
  • Plan and execute marketing and PR efforts towards fundraising goals with PR
  • Officer and relevant staff
  • Develop and effectively supervise fundraising activity timelines to ensure timely completion of deliverables
  • Facilitate small- and large-group meetings and trainings regarding fundraising development, grant writing and/or strategic fundraising planning
  • Identify opportunities for fundraising for programs and services of AMC
  • Identify software and hardware tools to enhance and support AMC’s capacity in fundraising
  • Serve as fundraising liaison to external partners, including representing AMC at national, regional and local meetings, as well as media
  • Cultivate existing and new relationships with donors with the goal of ensuring sufficient resources and develops new donor relationships
  • Represent AMC in the media, conferences and other public events as required and approved by the employer
  • Nurture and grow relationships with ‘Friends of Foundation’
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor

REQUIREMENTS

  • BA/BS Degree in management, marketing, communications or public relations
  • Prior experience in fundraising and event organizing
  • Able to travel frequently and individually within Europe and the U.S.
  • Proven ability to network actively
  • Experience or academic background in a field related to public health is preferable
  • Strong career interest in public health and mother and child health
  • Qualifications in management, marketing, communications or public relations may be helpful.
  • A strong understanding or potential for development for program management
  • Ability to work with diverse individuals and groups on complex community issues
  • Willingness to engage in continuous learning and training
  • Demonstrated professional aptitude
  • Excellent knowledge of English
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Be highly-organized
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Teamwork skills and ability to work under pressure
  • Knowledge in finance and budget planning
