Position Title : MHPSS Child Psychologist
Duty Station : Ferizaj. Kosovo
Classification : General Service Staff
Type of Appointment : Special Short Term Ungraded, 6 months with possibility  of extension
Estimated Start Date : As soon as possible

Context: 

The International Organization for Migration, the UN Migration Agency, is the leading inter governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental,  intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane  and orderly migration for the benefit of all and it does so by providing services and advice to  governments and migrants.  

IOM works to help ensure the orderly and humane management of migration, to promote  international cooperation on migration issues, to assist in the search for practical solutions to  migration problems and to provide humanitarian assistance to migrants in need, including  refugees and internally displaced people.  

As part of its activities in Kosovo, IOM assists in providing humanitarian assistance and  protection-sensitive responses to migrants. Under the overall supervision of the Chief of  Mission, and the direct supervision of the Protection Officer, the successful candidate will be  assigned the following: 

Core Functions / Responsibilities: 

  • Support the case plan of minors or parents/caregivers of concern. 
  • provide individual and/or group counselling and empowerment.  
  • Provide family sessions targeted to the well-being of the children and the improvement  of the family relationships and roles.  
  • Provide individual and group sessions to adolescents.  
  • Conduct Best Interest Assessment (BIA) intakes when necessary. 
  • Implement a variety of MHPSS activities (e.g. sessions on internet addiction, play  therapy, talking about emotions, prevention of drug abuse) aiming to promote  psychosocial wellbeing of the general population of minors, adolescents and  parents/caregivers. 
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned. 

Required Qualifications and Experience 

Education 

  • University degree Psychology with minimum three years of work experience working  with children. 
  • Master’s degree is an advantage.  

Languages 

Fluency in English and local language/s (oral and written). Dari or Pasto will be an asset.
