Duty Station : Ferizaj. Kosovo
Classification : General Service Staff
Type of Appointment : Special Short Term Ungraded, 6 months with possibility  of extension

Context: 

The International Organization for Migration, the UN Migration Agency, is the leading inter governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental,  intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane  and orderly migration for the benefit of all and it does so by providing services and advice to  governments and migrants.  

IOM works to help ensure the orderly and humane management of migration, to promote  international cooperation on migration issues, to assist in the search for practical solutions to  migration problems and to provide humanitarian assistance to migrants in need, including  refugees and internally displaced people. As part of its activities in Kosovo, IOM assists in  providing humanitarian assistance and protection-sensitive responses to migrants.  

Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission and the direct supervision of the  Protection Officer, the successful candidate will be assigned the following: 

Core Functions / Responsibilities: 

  • Conduct Social History Intakes and needs/vulnerability assessments to evacuees  residing in the camp. 
  • Understand and report to the protection officer specific protection needs of people  residing in the camp. 
  • Undertake GBV case management. Identify and handle GBV cases.
  • In cooperation with the psychologists develop individual action plans for vulnerable  beneficiaries.  
  • Commit to maintain a comprehensive and updated case file for each case undertaken.  Inform and keep updates beneficiaries for the progress of their cases. 
  • Actively participate and promote weekly protection meetings with medical unit to discuss  case management and collect feedback about existing risks, challenges, and gaps in  service provision for protection cases 
  • Ensure confidentiality when handling personal information and data of migrants and  refugees. 
  • Perform other related duties that may be assigned. 

Required Qualifications and Experience 

Education 

  • University degree in Humanities, Social Sciences or a related field from an accredited  academic institution with minimum three years of work experience. 
  • Master’s degree in above fields is an advantage. 

Experience and Skills 

  • Experience in liaising with governmental and diplomatic authorities as well as with  international institutions.  
  • Experience in working in a multi-cultural environment. 
  • Experience in team coordination. 
  • Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel,  etc) and knowledge of spreadsheet and database packages, experience in handling of  web-based management systems. 
  • Demonstrated organizational, facilitation, communication and writing ability, as well as  interpersonal and presentations skills.  
  • Strong experience in working in a migration/refugee setting, in a multi-cultural  environment. 
  • Strong work ethics and commitment to humanitarian principles. 

Languages 

Fluency in English and local language/s (oral and written). Working knowledge of Dari  and/or Pashto will be considered as an asset.
